Brexit Aproval by the European Parliament

On 29th January 2020, the agreement for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union was approved by the European Parliament. The ratification of the agreement was approved by 621 votes in favor, 49 against and 13 abstentions, culminating in the definitive decision regarding the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union. On 31st January 2020, we witness the historical exit of a member of the Union.

The spirits were divided between the happiness of the Brexit supporters with the sadness and even the tears of the remainers, which translated in a removal of 73 MEP's and a readjustment of the EU Parliament's positions, to be effective as from 1st February. Of the positions left, 27 were redistributed between the 14 member states, with Spain and France with five new MEP's, Italy and the Netherlands with three and Poland, Romania and Finland with one each.

There will now be a final formal approval of the 27 member states in the European Council, by letter, which begins the process of negotiation of the terms for the exit and the future partnership between the United Kingdom and the European Union, which shall be concluded by the end of 2020.
